Environmental Development Pollution Control
This program aims to advocate for nature and the environment, promoting the holistic development of the Tri-Lakes areas (Langano, Shalla, and Abijata lakes) and motivating protection and conservation efforts. Major activities include agroforestry development, ecological monitoring, controlled fishery and irrigation development and community capacity building in eco-tourism, and micro-financing schemes. The program document has been submitted to local, regional, and federal government authorities, IUCN, the UN, and international agencies, partners, and donors. We have invested time and money in commissioning the study, with a commitment to preventing the worst outcomes and restoring the area’s natural beauty. Although we have not yet mobilized resources, we will continue to lobby, advocate, and communicate with earth-friendly agencies and associations.
In collaboration with Water Witness International (WWI), NACID has conducted different initiatives and a serious of meetings focused on the protection of the Little Akaki River Basin in 2024.
